So last night I had a dream that I was eating grilled cheese sammies while watching Independence Day with a bunch of D&D Champions (hahah..i don't over analyze my dreams, and neither should you). It was almost like I was actually watching the movie because I feel like it ran the actual run-time of it. When I woke up, I needed to go on IMDB just to check on it (just like the cops in home alone). To my surprise, I found a news article not only on hollywood.com but cinemablend.com as well, talking about squeals to the 306 mil grossing 1996 flick.
According to random sources, there is going to be two squeals filming back to back...and Will Smith is locked down. They're rumored to possibly start filming in 2011.
Unfortunately, that's all the "news" on this for now. I'm definitely going to follow up on it.

I only saw headlines about this this morning and just decided to ignore them for now. It's so early and things have been so up and down with so many movies this year that I hardly think it's even worth worrying about just yet. I'm sure Roland Emmerich will be all about doing them but if there isn't a story worth paying attention to (2012, I'm looking at you) I don't want anything to do with it.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I love the orig so I would love to see at least one SOLID sequel to it, I just don't trust that it will be.

ReplyDeleteI loved the first and I'm so pleased that they convinced Will to come back for a reunion.
As long as they don't sign on Sacha Cohen to play the aliens, this is something I'll remain excited for.
