Pirates 4

First off...yikes.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth installment of the Pirates movies, is set to release May 20, 2011. The movie, directed by Rob Marshall, is set to be based around the Fountain of Youth which to me seems like it could be a decent concept...I just don't have much faith in it. Since the story line of Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom's characters are done and over with, they will not be involved in this picture. However, they've decided to do something absolutely ridiculous (in my opinion) and bring in the ever so annoying Penelope Cruz. I have yet to be wow'd by anything that woman has done so I will not be too eager to see her in this film. Not to mention that Rob Marshall and Penelope Cruz worked on Nine together...and we all know that was a flop.

I am indifferent about this fourth installment because I loved the first (obviously..it was the best), was bored with the second, and yet I got more entertained by the third...so there was a little see-sawing going on and now I'm not sure what to expect. We'll obviously be entertained by Johnny Depp regardless of the direction the movie goes in so it won't be a complete disappointment if it turns out being major suckage.

At least we have over a year to wait for it. They don't start filming til this Summer (in Hawaii) so they have plenty of time to make it good. Take your time guys, we don't want another Dead Man's Chest.

  1. I feel like they're doing this more and more frequently. Dragging on a perfectly good movie series longer than it needs to be. I felt this way about the Matrix, Terminator, for SURE Men in Black if they make the 3rd, and now this.

And holy shit. If I have to endure Penelope Cruz in this movie, they might as well sign on Sacha Baron Cohen to play captain Jack Sparrow.

I probably will end up seeing this, just because of how much I enjoyed the others i've seen. Though I'm nervous because too many times have my views on awesome trilogies been raped because of a much unneeded sequel.

I'm not too too familiar with Rob Marshall's work, so we'll see what tricks he pulls out of his sleeve to try and make this fourth installment work. Fingers crossed.

  2. LOL Sacha Cohen is being mentioned more and more..I'm getting nervous. But you're right, she's just...not swell. Shit, I'd do a better job at playing her part I'm sure... And you'd be able to understand the words that are comin out of my mouuufff.

  3. Since I loved the third Pirates so much, I'm actually a little excited for Pirates 4. I mean Penelope Cruz is a total Heche, but they also added Ian McShane to the cast, who I'm pretty sure is a god damn real-life pirate. Rob Marshall also did Chicago and Memoirs of a Geisha, so he at least knows how to make a film look nice.

I think mostly the characters that are staying I'm so in love with right now that I'm not super worried about hating this one just because Penelope Cruz is a waste of space. I am definitely a little bit skeptical since if I get my hopes up too high I know I'm just gonna get a Ralph Macchio leg sweep and fall on my face. But I'd like to see more antics of Capt. Jack Sparrow as well as those two doofy pirates who can never seem to get anything right.

So help me though, if Sacha Cohen is in this I'm going to lay waste to Disney.
