The Golden Raspberry Awards (aka The Razzies) were held yesterday, March 6th, in LA. The Razzies are an annual award ceremony held one day before the Oscars which was formed 29 years ago.

I absolutely love these awards. What I love most is that some people can be totally cool with it and say "Yes, that movie was an abortion" and accept their "award" Thank you J.B. Wilson for your creation of The Razzies.
In other entertainment news:
Alice In Wonderland grossed $116 million this weekend ($210mil worldwide). That's the biggest first quarter income since 300 in 2006 (taking in $70mil). I want to be extremely impressed but it's hard to since ticket prices are what they are. Not to mention seeing it in 3D/I-MAX...that's an extra $3/person depending on where you go. I am not an Alice fan since I never saw the Disney version (nope, never) but I'm always excited for a new Tim Burton/Johnny Depp collaboration.

It makes me sad that you haven't seen Alice, and that you're not a fan of the story. I think it's fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, with the exception of Anne Hathawaywiththemen's performance. Her character seemed so flat compared to all of the others... and the Cheshire Cat was probably the cutest thing ever. Cute than my kid, even.
ReplyDeleteThe Razzies are always really fun and after both of her acceptance speeches (Razzies and Oscars) I think I kind of love Sandra Bullock. As far as Alice goes, I've heard mixed reviews and at this point don't really care. However, I want to see the fucking Tron: Legacy trailer that's attached to it more than I want to se my family at Christmas. I need to see that shit so bad. I love Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, but I don't particularly love the look of the Mad Hatter here so we'll see how it goes. I'm sure I'll see it soon enough, but I'm not paying $17 to see it in IMAX 3D. Keep writing :)
ReplyDeleteJewelie--It's not that I'm not a fan out of choice. My parents never introduced us to the movie when we were younger because they thought it was too "druggie" lol! I also just never got around to seeing when I was older either...no explanation for that tbh..
ReplyDeleteWill--Whenever I pass by the poster at AMC of Tron, my pants get tight. LOVED the '82 version and the fact that Jeff Bridges is signed on. Epic.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the link, loved Sandra's acceptance at the Razzies. I've always been a fan of her snarkiness. All the Razzie awards handed out were pretty accurate and deserving I thought.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of Alice, it's been some time since i've seen the classic film but I remember enjoying it. But then again, there's been a few movies I've seen while younger and decided to revisit as an adult and thought "man, that movie was haribble. wtf was the 10 year old version of me thinking?" I was looking forward to Tim Burton's recreation but i'm over the hype.
Tron was my shittttt. My glow-in-the-dark Tron shirt is probably one of my all time favorite articles of clothing. Best $15 I ever spent.
Another 2 thumbs up on the blog <3
Tron t-shirt ftw!
