This is a major reason why I'm moving back to FL (kidding.....but not really)...
As we all know.. Universal Studios is being awesomely bitchin and opening up a world dedicated to Harry Potter. This 20-acre, 200 million dollar addition was set to open in Spring of 2010 but has officially set their date to open June 18th (two days before summer...nice work guys).
The signature ride of the park, called "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey," will take riders through scenes from the books/movies. Visitors will also be able to step into the town of Hogsmeade, complete with train station and train, all standing in the shadow of Hogwarts Castle (I'm getting hard).
Stores will include: Zonko's, Honeydukes Sweet Shop, and a wand shop. Traditional British foods and Butterbeer (Harry's favorite drink – said to taste a lot like a blend of cream "pop" and butterscotch) at the Three Broomsticks Restaurant & Hogshead Pub will be served. Oh! And simulated Triwizard Tournaments will go on!
How righteous?! I'm so excited!
P.S. It's said that J.K. Rowling is appearing at the park mid summer! Keep your eyes peeeeled!

Thank you, Universal studios, for once again making my life have meaning.
ReplyDeleteI seriously can't wait for this place to open up. When I saw this commercial during the superbowl, my pants immediately shrunk a couple sizes. I'm so pumped to walk the streets of Hogsmeade with my fellow muggles. I would do terrible terrible things to get my hand on a season pass.
Now the only thing missing is a scale size replica of The Shire.
ooooooo the shire! how rad would that be?!
ReplyDeleteOK, so seriously... i think I will cry happy tears when I get to go. (which wont be any time near open because a. I'm poor and b. fuck crowds.
ReplyDeleteLife size replica of the shire would be bitchin'!
